In response to Bart’s prompt:

First Step
It doesn’t rush.
Not yet.
The world is still
too wide,
too loud,
too new
to trust all at once.
So it listens—
ears lifted
to invisible stories
moving through the air.
A tremble lives
in its stillness,
not fear,
but awareness
of how fragile beginnings are.
Grass bends
without asking questions.
Light arrives
without explanation.
And something
inside says:
go.
Not far.
Not fast.
Just enough
to leave the place
where waiting
became too small.
