VIOLET • VANITY • VOLE

In response to Di’s daily Prompt: https://wp.me/p3RSgb-wwi

There’s a quiet kind of beauty
in violet moments.
Not loud.
Not demanding attention—
just softly present,
like something blooming
for its own sake.
I used to think
beauty needed to be seen.
Reflected.
Admired.
Confirmed.
A little vanity, perhaps.
The mirror,
the glance,
the wondering
if what I am
is enough.
But the older I get…
the more I notice
the smaller things.
A vole
moving quietly through the grass,
unbothered,
unseen,
existing without needing
to be anything
other than what it is.
And there’s something
freeing in that.
To be
without performance.
To bloom
without needing
an audience.
To soften
into your own presence
without asking
if it’s enough.
So today,
I let the mirror rest.
I let the moment
be violet—
gentle,
unassuming,
real.
Because not all beauty
is meant to
be reflected.
Some of it
is meant
to be lived.
With love
