This weekend, we stepped into something real.

Not staged.Not polished.Just life… as it is.

At the Feaga fair here in Fuerteventura, surrounded by animals, tradition, and the quiet rhythm of the island, something shifted.

We noticed a sheep going into labour.

There was no hesitation. We called the veterinarian.

Because in moments like that, nothing else matters but care.

The goats carried on as if they knew—one feeding, one resting, one watching.

The donkeys stood with their soft, knowing eyes,like they’ve seen generations come and goand still choose gentleness.

And the camels…

Ancient. Grounded. Steady.

There’s something about them that feels older than words—like they remember a time before noise,before rushing,before forgetting what truly matters.

And then there was another kind of presence.

My youngest.

Standing beside the big yellow Puesto Médico Avanzado—a mobile unit that can care for 28 patients.

A different kind of caretaker. A different kind of calling.

But the same truth.

To be there when life needs you.

Because that’s what today showed me.

Life doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.It doesn’t ask if you’re ready.

It arrives anyway—in straw and breath,in quiet strength,in moments that ask you to step forward.

On an island where camels still carry history,where donkeys stand in quiet wisdom,and where new life begins without announcement—

we were reminded of something simple.

Something powerful.

Something easy to forget.

Life shows up anyway. And when it does…so should we.
