In response to Alice DeForest word prompt: https://wp.me/p9Zf6z-2vu

Dirty Money

Dirty money is a label.

A judgment.
A shadow
cast over something without knowing its truth.

It suggests something wrong—
something hidden,
something undeserved.

But not all money carries the same story.

Some comes from hard work.
Some from survival.
Some from systems meant to support those who need it.

And still—
people look.
They question.
They assume.

As if receiving help means lacking worth.

But support is not shameful.
It is recognition.

Recognition of struggle.
Of circumstance.
Of a life that has required strength
in ways others may never see.

Money does not define dignity.

Where it comes from
does not erase who you are.

And no label—
no matter how harsh—has the power to rewrite your truth.

Because what is given in honesty
is not dirty.

It is deserved.

Yes, there is no shame in having to receive help…there is a stigma associated with it. X
