This week’s theme is to choose a song by an artist you’ve recently discovered.
In response to Jim’s Sunday prompt: https://wp.me/p8EzVZ-L6p
My choice is Rosalía.

Born Rosalía Vila Tobella on September 25, 1992, she is a Spanish singer and songwriter known for her genre-blending style, combining flamenco roots with modern pop, experimental sounds, and classical influences. She has often been described as an “atypical pop star,” and it doesn’t take long to understand why.
Music has clearly always been part of her path. After falling in love with Spanish folk music as a teenager, she went on to study musicology and graduated in 2017. Since then, she has continued to evolve artistically, pushing boundaries with every project.
My song choice is La Perla, from her latest album. Released 7th November 2025.
There’s something about La Perla that feels both delicate and powerful. The title — meaning “The Pearl” — already suggests something rare, something formed over time, something shaped by pressure and depth.
Even without understanding every word at first, the emotion comes through clearly. And with the English lyrics included in the video, the song reveals itself layer by layer — intimate, expressive, and deeply atmospheric.
What I love about discovering an artist like Rosalía is that it reminds me how much music still has to offer. There are always new voices, new textures, new ways of telling a story.
Sometimes discovery feels like finding something that was waiting for you all along.
