PROMPT #425 Reena’s Xploration Challenge

In response to Reena’s Xploration Challenge: https://wp.me/p6HvcB-dt5

What Is Missing

She stands before the mirror as she always has.

Same frame. Same glass. Same quiet room behind her.

But something is different.

She lifts her hand—touches the surface as if it might remember her.

The outline is there.

A shape. A suggestion. A version of her drawn in light but missing everything that makes her… her.

No eyes to meet. No expression to read. No history reflected back.

Just absence wearing the shape of presence.

She wonders when it happened.

Was it gradual—a slow fading with every compromise, every silence, every moment she chose to be what was expected instead of what was true?

Or did it disappear all at once, leaving only this outline behind?

She presses her palm harder against the glass.

“Are you still there?” she doesn’t say aloud.

The mirror does not answer.

But something inside her does.

Not yet visible. Not yet formed.

But already…stirring.

This is the way I saw it – someone missing out on the core.
