Today’s words: blush, foil, gift, gold, hollow, nostalgia, present, sash, smile, thick, thought, tray

Wrapped in What Remains

The gift sat on the tray, wrapped in crinkled foil and tied with a fading sash of gold—beautiful, but somehow hollow.

I felt a small blush rise, not from joy,but from the weight of nostalgia pressing through the present moment.

Some things look whole until you hold them.

Your smile was still there, soft but thick with unspoken thought, like words that never found their way out before time closed the door.

And I understood then—not every gift is meant to be opened.

Some are meant to be remembered,to be felt,to be carried gently in the quiet space between what was and what still lingers.
