Precede

To precede is to come before.

A step taken before the path is clear. A feeling arriving before the reason.

Some things always precede us— our past, our stories, the echoes of who we have been.

They walk ahead, shaping how we are seen, how we are received.

But there are other things that precede quietly—

intuition, a knowing without words, a sense that something is about to shift.

I have learned that not everything must be understood in the moment it arrives.

Some things are simply a beginning moving ahead of us, waiting to be met.
