A castle is protection.

Walls rising high,
stone upon stone,
built to keep something safe.

From the outside,
it looks strong—
untouchable,
unbreakable.

But inside,
a castle can be many things.

A home.
A refuge.
Or a place
where we hide.

I have built castles
of my own—
around my heart,
around my pain,
around the parts of me
I was not ready to share.

Some walls kept me safe.
Some kept me alone.

I have learned
that not every door
must stay closed.

Even the strongest castle
needs light to enter.
