The wind changes its mind three times before noon. Sunlight spills across the floor, then disappears behind a sudden wall of cloud, as if someone has closed a door without warning. I step outside in one mood and return in another. March never stays long enough to be understood. It startles, shifts, laughs quietly at plans. Somewhere in this unsettled rhythm, I begin to recognize something familiar — the way life rarely holds still, the way we keep adjusting, cup in hand, as if waiting for it to make sense. Perhaps the Mad March Hare was never truly mad, only honest about how quickly everything can change.
gust after sunlight
a cup left cooling on stone
petals still unsure

A delightful haibun, Maggie, and no, March doesn’t sit still. Here in the UK we have March winds and April showers, but I think the showers have begun early this year. I know that feeling of stepping outside in one mood and returning in another. I enjoyed your personification of March, the way it ‘startles, shifts, laughs quietly at plans’, and the allusion to the tea oparty in your haiku.
