In response to Di’s daily Prompt:

https://wp.me/p3RSgb-wjG

The kitchen held a quiet kind of magic

Not loud,
not extraordinary—
just the simple rhythm
of life unfolding.

An olive between my fingers,
smooth, grounded—
a reminder
that some things
don’t need to be complicated
to be whole.

The onion—
layered, honest—
asking nothing more
than to be seen
as it is.

Not everything gentle
is without tears.

And still…
we keep going.

There was a softness
in the moment—
a shimmer, almost—

like opal.

Light shifting
through something solid,
revealing colours
only visible
when you slow down
enough to notice.

That’s where I found myself today.

Not searching.
Not rushing.

Just present
in the quiet alchemy
of ordinary things.

And somehow,
in that stillness—
everything felt
a little more alive.
