Encroach

Encroachment
rarely arrives all at once.

It is subtle.

A line moved—
just slightly.
A boundary softened—
just this once.

A moment where you think,
it’s not that much.
It doesn’t matter.
I’ll allow it.

And so you do.

Not because you are weak,
but because you are kind.
Because you understand.
Because you don’t want conflict
where there could be peace.

But encroachment
does not measure kindness.

It only recognizes space.

And where space is given
without awareness—
it grows.

Quietly.
Gradually.
Until one day,
you look around
and realize—

something that was yours
no longer feels like it belongs to you.

Your time.
Your energy.
Your voice.

Encroachment
is not always external.

Sometimes,
it is the way we abandon
our own boundaries.

The way we silence
what we truly feel
to make room
for what others expect.

But here is the truth:

Boundaries
are not walls.

They are clarity.

They are the quiet knowing
of where you begin
and where another ends.

And protecting that space
is not selfish.

It is necessary.

Because when you hold your ground—
with calm,
with awareness,
with self-respect—

encroachment
loses its power.

Not through force.
Not through resistance.

But through presence.

A simple, steady truth:

This is mine.
And I choose to keep it.
