Today’s Word: Move Along

In response to Alice DeForest word prompt:
https://wp.me/p9Zf6z-2uF

“Move along” can sound dismissive.

Like something to say
when you don’t want to engage.
When something is over.
When it’s time to leave.

But sometimes
it’s exactly what we need.

Move along
from what hurt you.
From what drained you.
From what no longer fits
who you are becoming.

Not everything is meant to stay.

Some chapters close quietly.
Others end with noise.
But all of them
teach something.

Moving along
doesn’t mean forgetting.
It doesn’t mean it didn’t matter.

It means choosing
not to remain
where you have already grown beyond.

There is strength
in continuing forward.

Even when it’s hard.
Even when it’s uncertain.

Because life doesn’t wait
for us to stand still.

It gently—
or sometimes firmly—
asks us to keep going.

When I hear the saying “move along” I always think about the hand gesture to “shoo” people away
