What They Are Shown
They sit in a row,
small shoulders, quiet hands,
eyes turned forward.
The screen says PEACE.
Bright. Clean. Certain.
But outside the frame,
on one side—
jets cut through heavy skies,
metal and noise and intention.
On the other—
white doves rise into light,
soft wings carrying something fragile
the world keeps dropping.
The children do not question it.
Not yet.
They are still learning
that words and images
do not always agree.
That peace can be taught
as a concept
while conflict hums just beyond the window.
They sit between two truths—
too young to name the contradiction,
old enough to feel it.
Perhaps that is where change begins.
Not in what we are told,
but in what we quietly notice
doesn’t align.
And maybe one day,
one of them will turn away from the screen,
look out the window,
and ask the question
that reshapes everything:
Which one is real?
