In response to Di’s daily Prompt:

The kitchen felt kinder today.
Not dramatic,
not chaotic,
just warm with the promise of something good.
A stock cube dropped into the pot
like a tiny block of intention,
quietly becoming more than it looked.
Soon the air filled with curry —
golden, rich, comforting,
the kind of smell that makes a house
feel loved.
And beside it all sat my faithful cup of tea,
because some meals need a companion.
Cooking is a small kind of magic.
A cube melts.
A curry deepens.
A cup waits patiently beside the steam.
And somehow,
ordinary ingredients become comfort —
the sort you can smell before you even taste it.
