Muffle
To soften a sound.
To quiet what would otherwise be loud.
Life has a way of muffling things.
Sometimes it muffles our voices —
when we learn early that it is safer to stay quiet.
Sometimes it muffles our emotions —
when we become strong for others and forget how to release what we carry.
And sometimes, the world itself feels muffled.
Like after a storm, when everything becomes still.
When the noise fades, and only a quiet presence remains.
There is a strange beauty in that silence.
Because when everything is muffled, we begin to hear something else.
The inner voice.
The steady breath.
The quiet truth that does not need to shout.
Not all muffling is loss.
Sometimes it is protection.
A way for the soul to soften the noise,
so it can finally listen.
