Impede

A word that means to slow something down.
To block the path forward.
To place an obstacle where movement once felt easy.

Life has a way of doing that.

Storms that arrive without warning.
Health that changes in a single moment.
Plans that suddenly shift direction.

Things that impede us rarely ask permission.

They simply appear.

At first they can feel frustrating, even unfair.
We want the road to remain smooth, the journey uninterrupted.

But sometimes what impedes us also teaches us.

When life slows us down, we notice things we once rushed past.
When the path becomes difficult, we discover strength we didn’t know we had.

An obstacle can stop movement for a while —
but it does not erase direction.

We may walk slower.
We may take another route.
We may pause to breathe and gather strength.

Yet the journey continues.

Impediments are part of the road.

They do not define where it ends.
