In response to Jim’s Sunday challenge:

This week’s theme is songs about weather — rain, storms, sunshine, and everything nature can throw at us. The theme is so big that I couldn’t choose just one song, so I decided to share three.
Weather has always been a powerful metaphor in music. Storms can represent turmoil, rain can express emotion, and sunshine often symbolizes hope. These three songs show different sides of that.
Song 1: Rock You Like a Hurricane – Scorpions
First up is Rock You Like a Hurricane, released in 1984 on the album Love at First Sting.
Written by Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker, and Herman Rarebell, this song became one of the most famous rock anthems of the 1980s. The hurricane here isn’t about weather alone — it’s about energy, passion, and the explosive power of rock music itself.
From the first guitar riff, the song hits like a storm you can’t escape.
Song 2: Purple Rain – Prince
The second song is the legendary Purple Rain, released in 1984.
Written by Prince, the song blends rock, gospel, and soul into one emotional masterpiece. The “rain” in the title is symbolic — often interpreted as a moment of reflection, sorrow, forgiveness, and transformation.
It’s not just a song; it’s an experience that builds slowly until it reaches that unforgettable guitar solo.
Song 3: Where the Storm Breaks – The Afterlove Voice
And finally, I wanted to share my own song, Where the Storm Breaks, released as The Afterlove Voice in December 2025.
Storms are often where change begins. They shake us, challenge us, and sometimes force us to face truths we might otherwise avoid. But storms also clear the air. They make way for something new.
This song explores that moment — the place where chaos and clarity meet.
Weather is powerful because it mirrors our emotions.
Sometimes we feel like a hurricane.
Sometimes we stand in the rain.
And sometimes we find ourselves right where the storm finally breaks.
