Leftovers

Most people think of food when they hear that word.
Something saved from yesterday’s meal, placed carefully in the fridge to be eaten later.

But leftovers are more than that.

Life leaves leftovers too.

Leftover memories from places we once lived.
Leftover feelings from people who passed through our lives.
Leftover dreams we once thought would unfold differently.

Sometimes they sit quietly inside us, like a plate we forgot to clear.

Not bad.
Not wasted.
Just reminders of what once was.

In my life there are leftovers from many chapters.

From Norway and snowy winters on frozen lakes.
From the years when life moved faster and the children were small.
From music, love, heartbreak, and moments that shaped who I became.

And even from the storms we have weathered recently here on Fuerteventura.

Leftovers are not always sad.

Sometimes they are pieces of wisdom we carry forward.

Proof that we lived.
Proof that we loved.
Proof that even when life changes, nothing is truly wasted.

Everything becomes part of who we are.

Even the leftovers.
