Daily Prompt — 1872

Write a letter to your 100-year-old self.

Dear 100-year-old me,

If you are reading this, then you made it.

That alone deserves a smile.

I wonder what the world looks like now. Has it become a little kinder? Have people learned to listen more, judge less, and care more for each other and this fragile planet we share?

I hope you are sitting somewhere peaceful when you read this. Maybe near the sea, with the sound of the waves in the background and the warm sun touching your face.

Some things probably haven’t changed.

I imagine you still love your morning coffee.
You probably still look up at the night sky with curiosity.
And hopefully, you are still writing.

I hope that along the way you kept your stubborn strength — the same strength that carried you through difficult years, heartbreak, illness, and rebuilding yourself more than once.

If life has taught you anything by the time you reach one hundred, I hope it is this:

That every fall was also a rise.
Every ending carried the seed of a new beginning.

And that the phoenix fire inside you never truly went out.

If your children and grandchildren are still around you, hold them close. They were always the greatest gifts in your life.

And if the world ever felt heavy, I hope you never forgot to find beauty in the small things — a song, a story, the stars, or the quiet comfort of a warm cup of coffee.

Take a deep breath for me.

Because right now, in this moment, I am still on the journey that brought you there.

With love and curiosity,

Maggie.
