The Quiet Shine

An old turtle rested
on a faded cushion by the window,
its worn shell curved in an unusual shape,
as if time itself had folded around it.

Outside, the wind caught a small chime,
its music drifting through the afternoon
like a private memory
no one else could hear.

The turtle stretched a slow claw,
touching the sunlight—
a single beam
that made the quiet room shine.

Nothing here was rare,
nothing meant for spectacle.

But some moments carry a hidden price:
the patience to notice them
before they disappear.
