Dawn Messenger
Before the village wakes,
one small bird
threads its voice through blue air.
Not song exactly—
more a promise
stitched between branches.
I listen from the doorway,
coffee warming my hands,
wondering who first taught
feathers
how to carry morning
so gently
into the day.
