In response to Di’s daily Prompt:

Lying in a hospital bed afterwards,
the world feels a little strange.
The ceiling lights blur into soft oval halos,
like tiny moons floating above me.
My vision plays quiet optical tricks —
nothing alarming, just the gentle wobble
of a body waking from medicine and sleep.
Someone somewhere is discussing dinner,
and I hear the word offal mentioned
with far too much enthusiasm.
At that moment, I decide
my recovery menu will remain
comfortably far away from adventurous cuisine.
Soup.
Toast.
Maybe tea.
Because when the world still spins a little oval
and your eyes are doing optical experiments,
simple things feel like luxury.
And honestly…
a warm nest and a quiet cup of tea
beat offal every time 😄💜
