Omission

An omission is not a lie.

Not exactly.

It is simply
something left unsaid.

A detail misplaced.
A truth folded quietly
into silence.

Sometimes omissions are kindness—
the words we choose not to release
because they would wound.

Sometimes they are protection.

But sometimes
an omission is the loudest thing
in the room.

The pause after a question.
The story missing its center.
The truth that everyone
can feel
but no one names.

I have learned
that what is missing
often speaks louder
than what is said.
