An urge is a pull—
not always loud,
not always wise,
but always felt in the body first.
It can be restless,
a quickening of breath,
a thought that won’t settle,
a want that pushes forward
before the mind catches up.
Some urges are fleeting—
like wind over water.
Others are deeper—
echoes of old needs,
patterns carved in us
before we understood them.
I have learned
that not every urge demands surrender.
Some are teachers.
Some are warnings.
Some are reminders
of what you have outgrown.
The space between impulse and action
is where freedom lives.
