After the Long Winter

They bloom
as if nothing happened.

As if frost did not harden the ground,
as if nights were not endless,
as if silence did not settle
into the bones of stone.

Small white lanterns
bowing toward earth—
not in defeat,
but in promise.

The wall remembers everything.
Names carved.
Years weathered.
Loss layered in lichen and moss.

Still,
they rise.

Not loudly.
Not to conquer.
Just enough
to say:

winter is not permanent.
Grief is not the last word.
Something always
returns.
