In response to Linda Hill’s prompt:

Prelude
Such a gentle word for something that comes before the storm, or before the music, or before the shift you didn’t see coming.
A prelude is not the main event, but it carries the mood. It whispers what might follow. It hums in the background while life rearranges itself quietly.
Sometimes I wonder if I’m always in a prelude — preparing, waiting, holding breath. Like something bigger is about to unfold but hasn’t yet found its voice.
Maybe this season isn’t the story. Maybe it’s the clearing of the throat before the first note. The inhale before the song begins.
There’s something comforting about that. A prelude means there is more. It means the page hasn’t finished turning.
And maybe I don’t need to rush the chapter. Maybe I just need to listen to the music gathering itself.
