Ready

Ready is a strange word.

It suggests preparation—
lists checked,
heart steady,
feet planted.

But life does not always wait
for readiness.

Sometimes it arrives anyway—
unannounced,
unyielding,
certain of its entrance.

You can hide.
You can hesitate.
You can tell yourself you need more time.

And still—
what is meant to find you
will.

I have learned
that ready is not perfection.

It is presence.

It is standing where you are,
even if your hands tremble,
even if your voice shakes.

Ready or not,
life comes forward.

The only question is
whether you step
toward it
too.
