Wisecrack
A wisecrack is a quick remark —
sharp, witty,
sometimes harmless,
sometimes not.
It’s the sentence that slips out
before the room has fully settled.
The clever comeback.
The playful tease.
Wisecracks can lighten the mood.
Break tension.
Turn awkwardness into laughter.
But they can also cut.
The difference lies in intention —
are we laughing with
or laughing at?
Humour is powerful.
It can connect people
or quietly divide them.
A well-timed wisecrack
is like seasoning —
just enough adds flavour.
Too much overwhelms the dish.
Perhaps true wisdom
is knowing when to speak,
when to stay silent,
and when laughter heals
rather than harms.
