Before This Lifetime
This was never just a date.
The way our hands recognized each other
before the mind could explain—
that was older than language.
Older than generations
who carried their silent struggle
like heirlooms stitched into the lining
of their days.
When your touch met mine,
it felt like a door opening
in the chest—
the heart remembering
what it promised before birth.
We have met here before.
Over coffee.
Over fires.
Over oceans.
In villages where songs
were sung to keep courage alive.
This is what love looks like
when it survives time—
not perfect,
not untouched by ache,
but fiercely good.
The wisdom is not in avoiding the storm.
It is in knowing
which dreams are worth returning for.
And still, across this small human table,
we sit—
two souls pretending this is ordinary,
while the cosmos smiles quietly,
because it knows:
this reunion
was written in starlight
long before we were.
