River
I have lived by a river before.
In Uskedalen,
it curved through the valley
like a quiet sentence
spoken by the mountains.
Rivers don’t argue.
They move.
They carry snowmelt,
fallen leaves,
forgotten branches—
and still they keep their direction.
I used to stand at the edge
and listen to it thinking.
Because rivers think in movement.
They never cling to the same water twice.
They never panic at a bend.
They trust gravity.
Now I live far from that river,
on an island shaped by wind instead of valleys.
But I still carry its rhythm.
When life shifts its course,
I try to remember—
resistance only exhausts the current.
Flow does not mean weakness.
It means continuity.
A river does not need to prove its strength.
It carves stone simply by remaining.
And so will I.
