Quiet Bloom

I learned to flower
in small, quiet places,
between grief and breath.
Petals opened anyway,
toward light I doubted,
toward hands that stayed.
Even bruised soil
offered patience,
and the stem remembered
how to rise,
soft,
still choosing color
over silence
at last today.

    between grief and breath.”

Just stunning. And “Even bruised soil/offered patience.” YES.

A stunning poem, Maggie. I especially love the idea of learning ‘to flower in small, quiet places’ and open one’s petals ‘toward hands that stayed’.
