Canal

A canal is a guided flow.
Not wild like a river,
not still like a lake—
but directed, purposeful.

It carries water where it’s needed,
connecting places that might otherwise
remain separate.

Canals remind me that not everything
has to be forced or free-falling.
Sometimes direction is a form of care.
Sometimes boundaries help movement,
rather than limit it.

Life, too, needs its canals—
ways to channel energy, emotion, effort
so nothing is wasted
and nothing floods the banks.

A canal teaches balance:
flow with intention,
movement with structure,
progress without chaos.
