Venture

To venture
is to follow curiosity
before certainty.

On Sunday,
I’ll venture into the green
and purple mountains of Fuerteventura—
land I thought I already knew,
now wearing unfamiliar colours.

This is not a conquest.
It’s a witnessing.

Taking the girls.
Taking my camera.
Taking time slow enough
to let the island speak
without interruption.

A venture doesn’t promise perfection.
Only presence.
Only the chance
to say I was there
when the land decided
to surprise itself.

If the weather is kind,
we’ll walk.
If it isn’t,
we’ll still have gone.

Because some moments
are worth venturing toward
simply to be seen.
