Corner

I have been cornered by pain,
by silence,
by bodies that no longer behave as promised.

Corners teach you things.
They strip away excuses.
They leave only truth and choice.

From a corner, you can curl inward—
or you can turn,
press your back to the wall,
and breathe.

I have learned this:
being cornered does not mean being finished.
Sometimes it is where you find
the strength you didn’t know
you still had.
