Meet

We meet not always face to face.
Sometimes we meet pain,
sometimes truth,
sometimes the version of ourselves
we’ve been avoiding.

I have met illness more times than I can count.
I have met fear.
I have met endurance.

And still, each morning,
I meet the day—
not because it is easy,
but because I am here.
