Ragtag Daily Prompt | 30.01.2026
In response to Martha’s prompt word : Junk .

They say one person’s junk
is another person’s treasure.
Right now,
it mostly feels like unfinished business
no one bothered to take out with 2025.
Who forgot the bins?
Because this year didn’t start clean.
It started cluttered.
Leftover pain.
Unanswered questions.
Mental drawers jammed with things
that don’t fit neatly anywhere.
Was 2025 just the trailer—
the ominous music,
the warning screen—
before everything really fell apart?
Some days my head feels like a skip:
broken thoughts,
sharp memories,
old labels slapped on things
that were never junk to begin with.
Pain gets called junk
when it makes people uncomfortable.
Truth gets called junk
when it doesn’t serve a narrative.
Grief gets called junk
when it refuses to expire on schedule.
But junk is only junk
when someone decides it has no value.
I’m still sorting.
Still deciding what stays.
Still refusing to throw away
what mattered
just because it hurt.
Maybe the work isn’t clearing the junk at all.
Maybe it’s learning
what was never disposable.
