January 30 – “Cinnamon” from Tessa K. https://valleyofthetrolls.blog/

Cinnamon
In our house, cinnamon means different things.
For my youngest daughter, it’s Cinnamoroll—
the anime character on phone cases, pencils, T-shirts,
cute, comforting, everywhere.
Both my daughters are deep into manga stories now,
K-pop playlists, anime worlds I’m still learning to navigate.
My youngest is nineteen,
and cinnamon, for her, is pastel, playful,
and a little bit magical.
For me?
Cinnamon lives in the kitchen.
It’s warm and familiar.
It smells like patience and comfort.
It rolls itself into dough,
melts into sugar and butter,
and asks only to be eaten while still warm.
Same word.
Different generations.
Different joys.
Their cinnamon comes with soundtracks and storylines.
Mine comes with icing and crumbs.

PS
And then there’s that cinnamon memory.
When the girls were little, a glass of cinnamon met the floor — and instead of a cloth or a broom, they chose what they thought was the smartest solution of all: the central vacuum.
Efficient? Yes.
Consequences? Also yes.
The house smelled like cinnamon for weeks.
Every room. Every corner.
Proof that cinnamon doesn’t just linger in baking… it commits.
Cinnamon: delicious in rolls, unforgiving in vacuum systems.
