This week, our weekend challenge is the word “Squish”

Squish

There is something strangely comforting about the word squish.

It’s the sound of softness giving way.
Of pillows after a long day.
Of dough under patient hands.
Of little fingers pressing into something safe, just to feel it respond.

Squish isn’t violent — it’s temporary.
What’s squished always rises again.

Life squishes us sometimes.
Responsibilities, expectations, grief, noise.
Days where the world presses in too tightly and we feel flattened by it.

But even then, there’s resilience hiding inside the softness.

We learn where we bend.
Where we compress.
And where we gently return to shape — perhaps altered, but not broken.

Maybe squish is a reminder that softness is not weakness.
That yielding can be a form of survival.
That comfort often comes from allowing ourselves to be held, pressed, and supported.

Today, I choose to embrace the squish.
To rest where life feels soft.
To let myself be reshaped by tenderness rather than force.

Because sometimes, the safest place to be…
is right in the middle of the squish.
