For this week’s writing prompt, you need to choose any one from the given situations.

A character wakes up in a world where everyone sees colors differently.
2. A poet and a scientist debate the meaning of a sunset.

3. A storyteller writes about a childhood memory, then interviews others who were there.

4. A time traveler visits the same moment in history from multiple cultural vantage points.

5. A novelist creates a story told by five narrators, each contradicting the others.

As you elucidate the situation into prose, poetry, or an image, the terms given above will become clearer. There is no compulsion to use or explain the terms in your creative piece. The terms exist merely as background to direct thought.

There is no restriction on the length or format of the piece. There is no last date unless you wish to be featured in the Weekly Wrap.

I have chosen nr 2.

When the Sun Began to Argue With Itself

They stood side by side without meaning to.
The poet had come for the sky.
The scientist had come for the data.

The sunset arrived anyway—
unapologetic, wide-armed, setting the horizon on fire.

“It’s scattering,” the scientist said, almost reverently.
“Shorter wavelengths fleeing first. Physics doing what physics does.”

The poet smiled.
“It’s a farewell,” she said.
“The day learning how to let go without making a sound.”

The scientist frowned, not unkindly.
“It isn’t about anything.”

The poet watched the light dissolve into rose and amber.
“Neither is love,” she replied, “until it is.”

They fell quiet.

The sun slipped lower, as if embarrassed by the attention.
Numbers failed. Metaphors thinned.
What remained was color—
not measured, not named—
but felt in the chest like a held breath.

At last the scientist said, softly,
“Whatever it is… it’s consistent.”

The poet nodded.
“Yes,” she said. “And it still surprises us every time.”

The sun disappeared.
Neither of them won the argument.
Both of them went home changed.

The consistency of a phenomenon with varying degrees of splendour. It feels like writing a new poem, painting a new perspective and never repeating yourself.

    Thanks for joining in!
