DailyPrompt–1824

Write about your first name: its meaning, significance, etymology

For this prompt, I’m using Maggie — because that’s who I am.

Truth be told, my father has always called me Maggie.
So much so that when someone uses my full given name, my first reaction is often:
Who is that? 😄

Maggie is traditionally connected to the name Margaret, a name with ancient roots often associated with the meaning “pearl.”

I’ve always loved that symbolism.

A pearl isn’t formed quickly.
It comes into being slowly — through time, pressure, and layers of experience.

Over the years, Maggie has grown into more than a nickname.
It feels familiar.
Personal.
Like home.

It’s the name I answer to without thinking.
The name I write from.
The name that carries my voice.

Names can be given at birth — but some are claimed through love and repetition.
This one was spoken into being early, held consistently, and never really left.

And like a pearl,
its value isn’t in being polished or perfect —
but in the life that shaped it.

💫Maggie
