Song/ lyric about time

Liam James Payne was born on 29 August 1993 in Wolverhampton, England.
He died on 16 October 2024, under circumstances that remain unresolved, with investigations ongoing in both Argentina and the UK.

But Liam was never defined by how his story ended.

Many first encountered him in 2008, when a 14-year-old Liam auditioned for The X Factor. He showed early confidence and natural talent, yet was sent home, told he was too young. For some, that would have been the end. For Liam, it became the beginning of a longer, harder journey.

He returned in 2010, older and more determined, and was placed into a newly formed group that would soon become One Direction. What followed was a global phenomenon. Within the band, Liam became known not only for his voice, but for his musicianship, discipline, and quiet leadership. He contributed to songwriting, helped shape harmonies, and often carried responsibility behind the scenes — all while growing up under relentless public scrutiny.

After One Direction’s hiatus, Liam’s solo work revealed an artist searching for balance between commercial success and personal truth. In August 2018, he released a four-track EP titled First Time — a project that marked a subtle but important turning point in his evolution.

With First Time, Liam surprised listeners with a more mature and diverse sound, blending pop, Latin influences, and R&B textures with honest, emotionally open songwriting. Liam shared with fans that this EP was his most personal work to date, and listening back now, it feels like each song offers a fragment of who he was at that moment — reflective, vulnerable, and still becoming.

“First Time” (feat. French Montana)

The EP’s lead single, “First Time,” captures the intoxicating moment when time seems to pause — that instant when seeing someone for the first time leaves an imprint that never quite fades. The song was written by Liam Payne, French Montana, Steve Mac, Jamie Scott, and Julian Bunetta, and produced by Steve Mac.

Musically, the track blends a groovy, Latin-infused rhythm with smooth pop sensibilities, making it instantly club-ready. Lyrically, it reflects on desire, memory, and the way certain moments stay with us long after they pass. French Montana adds contrast and swagger with his featured verse, while Liam’s vocals keep the song grounded in emotional longing.

Beneath its polished surface, First Time speaks to something deeper: beginnings, memory, and the quiet power of moments that shape our lives. In that sense, the title feels symbolic — not just of love, but of Liam himself standing at a threshold, stepping closer to artistic honesty.

But music was not Liam’s only language.

Beyond the stage and studio, Liam was also a gifted visual artist. He expressed himself through drawing and painting, often sharing sketches and artworks that revealed a softer, more introspective side of his creativity. His visual work carried the same emotional honesty found in his songs — instinctive lines, symbolic forms, and a rawness that spoke when words fell short. Art became another way for him to process emotion, identity, and inner worlds away from the noise of fame.

This breadth of expression is central to Liam’s legacy. He was not confined to one medium, one sound, or one version of himself. He was a creator in the truest sense — someone who felt deeply and translated those feelings into music, into images, into moments others could recognise as their own.

Liam Payne was many things: a boy who came back after being told no, a global pop star, a songwriter, a father, and an artist still evolving. His legacy is not frozen in a single era or headline. It lives in the work he left behind, the risks he took, and the courage it takes to keep becoming — even under impossible pressure.

And for many of us, his story is not finished yet.

Lyrics :

Montana, you know what it is when you hear that (haan)
I always pick up on the first time, ooh (way up there)
I been hoping you would check on me
I can’t stop thinking ’bout the first time, ooh
Yeah, it’s like you put a spell on me (ay-ay-ay)
¿Cómo estás? You make me crazy
I’m seeing red, that’s on the daily now
Girl, you a savage, you ain’t no lady
You know my style, been smokin’ lately, yeah
Ooh, I’m trying to find it (oh, yeah)
Get you in private (oh, yeah), rush up behind it, yeah
Ooh, don’t wanna be friends, we tried it (we tried it)
I’m never on silent, yeah
I always pick up on the first time, ooh (ay)
I been hoping you would check on me (I hope you check it on)
I can’t stop thinking ’bout the first time, ooh
Yeah, it’s like you put a spell on me, oh, no-no-no
Ooh, hey, yeah-yeah
Ooh, oh, no-no-no
Ooh, yeah, it’s like you put a spell on me, whoa
You brush me off, yeah, you know I hate it
You playing tough now, don’t try to fake it
Girl, you a savage, yeah, you ain’t no lady
It’s been a while, I’m counting days, yeah
Ooh, I’m, I’m trying to find it (oh, yeah)
Get you in private (oh, yeah), rush up behind it, yeah
Ooh, don’t wanna be friends, we tried it (tried it)
I’m never on silent, yeah
I always pick up on the first time, ooh (ay)
I been hoping you would check on me (I hope you check it on)
I can’t stop thinking ’bout the first time, ooh
Yeah, it’s like you put a spell on me, oh, no-no-no
Ooh, hey, yeah-yeah
Ooh, oh, no-no-no
Ooh, yeah, it’s like you put a spell on me
(Liam Payne, Montana, check)
She’s a savage like Rihanna (ay), she loves cars, she loves diamonds
She loves stars and watches that be timeless
I’ma put in my time, I mean really grind, coups that be silly
If that ring around your finger’s half a milli-
Man, we pick up, pick up, when I pull up, pull up
We them boys, boys, top-down, but my hood up, ah
Tryna fight it like Tyson, but she snipe me with a rifle
That’s the worst thing, pick up on the first ring
I always pick up on the first time, ooh
I been hoping you would check on me (I hope you check on)
I can’t stop thinking ’bout the first time, ooh
Yeah, it’s like you put a spell on me, oh, no-no-no
Yeah, it’s like you put a spell on me
Ooh, yeah
Ooh, oh, no-no-no
Ooh, yeah, it’s like you put a spell on me
Oh, no-no-no
Ooh, I been hoping you would check on me
I can’t stop thinking ’bout the first time, ooh
Yeah, it’s like you put a spell on me

Maggie, your afterlove voice rises where silence should sleep,
a soft defiance stitched with grief and grace.
You speak not to accuse, but to remember,
holding Liam’s name like a candle against the wind.
In your echo lives insistence: love does not end,
and justice, once called, keeps listening.

Thank you for this, Ro. Truly.
Your words met mine with such care, and I feel deeply seen by them.
I never set out to accuse — only to remember, to hold space where love still speaks and silence would be easier. If my writing carries a candle, it’s because others like you are willing to help shield the flame.
      I’m grateful you listened.
And even more grateful that you answered.
      🤍

What a lovingly written and heartfelt tribute to an existence that was truly larger than life. I am older- so I am not as familiar with Liam, or The Backstreet Boys as the younger crowd- but I heard the news surrounding his untimely death- and watched the media paint the incident as just another drug related death-

and having lost the love of my life to an overdose- I ache every time I see that- because I know each person lost- was a whole beautiful well-rounded soul- and no one is just another junkie.

Thank you Violet. I’m so sorry for your loss. 💔.

Here’s the thing, Liam’s cause of death was Polytrauma, not overdose. That was just the media narrative since Liam had been open about his struggles with alcohol in the past.
The official toxicology report says it was only traces of alcohol, his antidepressants and cocaine. But we don’t know how the tests were done, since antidepressants can give a false positive on cocaine…

Thank you for commenting ❤️. And you are right, nobody is just another junkie even if they have struggles with substances.

I am so glad you followed up with this info- as I would never have known- I just remember them actually arresting the drug dealer- which is not something you hear of every day- and never in the case of a less than famous person.

In my opinion the “drug dealer” was just a scapegoat .
It’s so many things in Liam’s case that stinks , corruption and shifting testimonials…

Thank you for having me 🌷.
My oldest daughter who’s 29 now, was a “directioner” and their music was played all the time in our home. So, you can say I’m a proud 1D mum.

Liam was part of One Direction. Backstreet Boys is another group- a decade earlier.

Wonderful tribute to this most talented young man. I had not heard this song, but I applaud anyone who can find their way through the music industry and have the courage to keep on no matter what. Love the paintings he did. So sad for his family and friends <3
