Today’s word is “private.”

Private

I am a private person.
Not because I have nothing to say,
but because some truths
wither when exposed to careless eyes.

I learned early
that not everyone is safe
with what is sacred.

I was judged—
by parents, by family, by others—
for gifts I did not choose
but was born carrying.
Abilities that opened doors
others preferred to keep locked.

So I learned discernment.
I learned that silence can be protection,
that privacy can be power.

My spirit guides,
the voices from beyond the veil,
the quiet knowing that arrives without explanation—
these were never meant for crowds.
They were meant for trust.
For reverence.
For the moments when the soul
is allowed to speak without defense.

Being private is not secrecy born of shame.
It is boundaries shaped by wisdom.
It is choosing where light belongs
and where shadows are allowed to rest.

Some things are not hidden—
they are held.

And what I keep private,
I keep holy.
