Fandango’s One-Word Challenge

Honor

Honor is not loud.
It doesn’t announce itself
or demand witnesses.
Honor lives in the small choices—
what you do when no one is watching,
what you refuse to become
even when it would be easier.
It is keeping your word
when silence would let you slip away.
It is telling the truth
even when your voice shakes.
Honor is how you treat the vulnerable,
the absent,
the dead.
It is how you carry someone’s name
after they can no longer defend it themselves.
Honor remembers.
Honor protects.
Honor stands its ground
without needing applause.
And sometimes,
honor is simply this:
to live in a way
that does not betray your own soul.
