RDP Wednesday: TALLYToday’s prompt word : Tally
Tally
I stopped keeping score
the way I once did.
Not of losses.
Not of apologies.
Not of the days that bent but didn’t break.
There was a time
when my life felt like chalk marks on a wall—
each line a weight,
every fifth one crossed,
counting what had been endured
instead of what had been lived.
But today, my tally looks different.
I count the mornings I rose anyway.
The kindness I gave without witnesses.
The moments I chose truth
over silence.
I tally breaths taken in the dark
that carried me into light.
Songs written.
Tears honored.
Love that stayed.
If there is a reckoning,
let it be this:
I am still here.
And that number
has meaning.
