Adventure

Adventure doesn’t always roar.
Sometimes it whispers
just before dawn,
when the world is still undecided
and your heart dares to lean forward.
Adventure can be leaving the familiar.
It can be staying—
and choosing differently within it.
It is the courage to step outside the story
you’ve been telling yourself
about who you are
and what you are allowed to want.
Not every adventure crosses oceans.
Some cross thresholds.
Some are as small and brave
as saying yes again,
or no at last.
Today, my adventure is trust.
Trusting the next step
will appear
when I place my foot down.
And so I go—
not fearless,
but willing.
That is enough.
