Tumultuous

Some days arrive
already shouting.
The wind argues with the walls,
thoughts collide like restless tides,
and the heart—
oh, the heart—
beats too loud for the room it’s in.
Tumultuous is not chaos without meaning.
It is movement.
A stirring of truth beneath the surface.
Storms do not ask permission.
They tear, they cleanse, they insist.
They remind us that stillness
is not the absence of motion,
but the moment after
everything has been shaken loose.
I have learned this:
a tumultuous sea is still a sea,
and even the wildest waves
are part of a greater rhythm.
Today, I do not resist the surge.
I anchor where I can,
breathe where I must,
and trust that the same force
that unsettles me
is also carrying me
somewhere new.
