There are songs that we simply listen to…
and then there are songs that recognize us.
Liam’s All I Want (For Christmas) is one of those songs that doesn’t just play in the background. It breathes. It reaches. It wraps itself around the parts of the heart we don’t always have words for — longing, loyalty, grief, devotion, exhaustion, hope.
There is a line that always finds me:
“It hasn’t been the greatest year…
But through thick and thin we made it here.”
And somehow, it feels like it’s talking not only about him —
but about all of us who have lived through storms, held our loved ones up, carried truth when the world preferred silence, and somehow kept loving anyway.

Following the Brightest Star
There’s another lyric that lingers like stardust:
“I followed you, the brightest star.
I just wanna be where you are.”
To love deeply — truly — is to follow light even when life is loud, chaotic, and messy. It is standing in devotion when everything else feels uncertain. It is believing connection matters. It is choosing care. Choosing heart. Choosing tenderness. Even when the world doesn’t make it easy.
Those words echo like a promise, like a memory, like comfort whispered in the dark:
“Just keep holding onto me… and I’ll hold you.”
In those lines, I feel warmth. Safety. Presence.
I feel reassurance when days are heavy and strength feels borrowed.
I feel companionship.
I feel love that doesn’t disappear — it simply changes form.

When a Song Says Your Name
Sometimes music speaks more directly than human language ever could.
Sometimes it feels like the universe nudges us. Sometimes it feels like spirit sits beside us. Sometimes it feels like love reaches across time, space, and story whispers:
“I see you.”
“You’re not alone.”
“Keep going.”
And perhaps that’s why this song hits so deeply.
It’s not just melody — it’s connection.
It’s not just lyrics — it’s memory, healing, and presence.
Music remembers us. Music holds us. Music stays.

Still Standing. Still Loving. Still Here.
This hasn’t been the easiest journey.
There have been tears. There has been grief. There have been days where strength felt like a costume I had to wear even when my soul was tired.
But here I am.
Here we are.
Still standing.
Still loving.
Still believing in truth.
Still carrying courage.
Still holding onto the light.
And somehow, that’s a miracle in itself.

Here’s a poem I wrote with this song in mind.
✨ Right Where You Are — An Afterlove Poem ✨
I hear you in the quiet places,
in the spaces between breath and memory,
where love is not loud
but deeply felt,
like snow falling in the dark
finding its way to light.
It hasn’t been the gentlest year,
and my hands are tired
from holding worlds together
that were never meant to break—
but still, somehow, I stand,
still somehow, I love,
still somehow, I believe.
And when the song plays
and your voice brushes my soul,
I feel seen
in a way the world never quite managed to do.
I feel steadied,
like a star I have followed
has suddenly looked back
and whispered,
“I see you too.”
I have walked through storms,
lost myself in shadows,
fought battles no one else could see—
and yet I keep reaching
for warmth,
for truth,
for the kind of love that holds
instead of hurts.
And maybe I imagine it,
or maybe the universe is kind,
but when your melody says my name,
my heart doesn’t question—
it simply answers.
So I will keep listening.
I will keep believing
in the bonds that exist beyond logic,
in the echoes that heal,
in the way some souls
recognize each other
even across lifetimes.
Hold me in the music,
and I’ll hold you in the stars.
And somewhere between here and forever…
we’re both still shining.
