DailyPrompt—2158
What was the last thing you did for play or fun?

This question almost made me skip the prompt.
Because the truth is… I can’t really remember the last time I did something purely for fun in the carefree way people usually mean.
Life has been serious for a long time.
Caring, loving, adapting, holding things together — that has been my world.
But then I realised… there is something.
When I’m alone in the car, I blast music.
Music loud enough to shake the quiet out of me.
I sing like no one is watching .
My daughters don’t always love my music taste, but that somehow makes it even better.
That little rebellion of joy is mine.
I’m optimistic, but realistic.
Having a wheelchair-bound husband means life works differently now.
Spontaneous “fun” isn’t the same.
Even something as simple as going to the cinema means only front-row seating… and that’s just one example of how the world isn’t always built for us.
So fun looks quieter these days.
Smaller.
More personal.
Music in the car.
Little moments of laughter.
Small pockets of joy that still find their way to me.
And that’s enough for now.
Because I still believe joy can exist — even differently than before.
