DailyPrompt—2154
What skills or lessons have you learned recently?
#2154
At first my mind went blank.
Probably because I needed coffee ☕️ — and maybe because some lessons aren’t light ones.
But then I realised…
I have learned something important.
I’ve learned not to read the comment sections on articles about Liam and his death.
The headlines still repeat the same narrative:
that he jumped, that he climbed, that he was “full of drugs,” that he was an addict.
And reading those comments — the cruelty, the ignorance, the certainty — breaks my heart every time.
Because facts matter.
1) You cannot jump or fall from a balcony if you are semi-conscious or unconscious.
2) The toxicology report from @FiscalesGobAr (Argentina) stated there were only traces — traces, not evidence of a binge or intoxication.
We also don’t know whether testing protocols accounted for known cross-reactivity, where certain antidepressants can register as cocaine metabolites.
3) Liam himself was honest about his struggles — with alcohol, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and self-medication.
He spoke openly because he wanted awareness, not shame.
4) Liam’s cause of death was polytrauma.
Not drugs.
Not alcohol.
And yet the comment sections erase all of that.
They flatten a human being into a headline.
So yes — the lesson I’ve learned is this:
protect my heart.
Because every time I see those comments, I think of Liam’s family.
His parents.
His sisters.
And his little son, Bear.
What must it feel like for them to see these lies repeated?
And one day, when Bear goes online to learn about his father…
what will he find waiting for him?
That’s why I choose truth.
And silence where cruelty lives.
And boundaries where grief deserves gentleness.
Some lessons aren’t about skill.
They’re about love.
